Portrait of Jan-Erik Thie

Jan-Erik Thie

I'm a PhD candidate at the University of Potsdam and the Macroeconomic Policy Institute (IMK).

My research lies at the intersection of macroeconomics and environmental policy. In particular, I study the effects of fiscal policies aligned with the transition of the economy toward climate neutrality. In my first dissertation paper, we analyze the impact of carbon pricing on inflation and examine how sectoral price shocks can affect the overall price level via input–output linkages. In my second paper, I empirically estimate the employment effects of green government spending through the production network.

Prior to my PhD, I worked as a researcher at Ecologic Institute, where I conducted research on green industrial policies, emissions trading systems and other economic topics related to sustainability.
